How to ask cleaning clients for reviews

Reviews are one of the main things new clients check before booking a cleaner. Most happy clients will leave one, but only if you ask, at the right time, and make it easy. This guide covers how.

When to ask

Avoid asking right after a complaint. Fix the problem first.

How to ask

  1. Keep it short. One or two sentences.
  2. Make it personal. Use their name and mention the clean.
  3. Include the direct link to your review page so it takes one tap.
  4. Ask once, follow up once. A single gentle reminder is fine; more feels pushy.

Text or email?

Text usually gets a faster response for recurring clients you already message. Email works for one-time clients or when you want to include a little more detail. See our text message templates guide for more client messages.

Respond to every review

Thank people for positive reviews. For negative ones, reply calmly, apologize for the experience, and offer to make it right offline. Future clients read your replies too.

What not to do

The Client Scripts Pack includes a review request script, plus inquiry reply, quote follow-up, booking confirmation, appointment reminder, rebooking, price increase notice, complaint handling and cancellation policy reminder scripts, as DOCX, PDF and plain text.

FAQ

When is the best time to ask a cleaning client for a review?

Shortly after a clean that went well, or right after a client compliments your work, while the result is still fresh.

Should I offer a discount for reviews?

No. Review platforms generally prohibit incentivized reviews. Ask politely and make it easy instead.

How should I respond to a negative review?

Reply calmly, apologize for their experience, and offer to resolve it privately. Then fix the underlying issue.
